The application process for the 2012 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) will open on Monday, February 4, 2013 and close on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 5:00pm.
The Hope Fund of POISE Foundation was created by Reverend Ricky Burgess, Councilman for the 9th District of the City of Pittsburgh. The purpose for creating this fund was to provide transparency in the grant making function of the Councilman’s office and to take advantage of the grant making history of POISE Foundation in serving many of the neighborhoods making up District 9.
The Hope Fund is currently funded through two programs. First, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)dollars have been allocated to District 9 by the City of Pittsburgh. The CDBG program typically awards $70,000 for each program year. Grants may average from $5,000 to $15,000. POISE Foundation has entered into contract with the City of Pittsburgh to manage the selection process of funds allocated to District 9. The Foundation will solicit, review and assess, then select organizations for funding through CDBG grants. The organizations will enter into contracts directly with the Planning Department of the City of Pittsburgh who will manage the individual contracts. All organizations applying for these grants must meet HUD eligibility requirements as required throughout the proposal. The application period for the 2011 CDBG Funding is NOW CLOSED. Please check back in September 2012 for information regarding the next funding cycle.
The second program is called Neighborhood Needs. This program is funded by a set amount of money allocated to District 9 by a previous administration. Once these funds are expended, the program will end. To be eligible for funding from the Neighborhood Needs program, your project must benefit the community at large. These funds cannot be used to directly benefit selected individuals and/or organizations. As part of the review process, all proposals must be reviewed and approved by the City of Pittsburgh Law Department. Please review the Neighborhood Needs Summary Page prior to submitting an application.
In addition to completing the online application (for both Neighborhood Needs and CDBG), applicants must print out, sign and mail the signature page (must be original signature) to the POISE Foundation office. Your application will not be processed without the signature page.
