Welcome to the Application Site for the KAPPA Scholarship Endowment Fund of Western PA (KSEF)

The Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund of Western PA (“KSEF”) was the brainchild of Mr. Thomas A. Motley, Sr., past Polemarch of the Pittsburgh Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. KSEF was created as the philanthropic arm of the Pittsburgh Alumni Chapter to offer financial assistance via scholarships and financial awards to support the needs of African American students at the undergraduate level. Over the past 30 years, KSEF has provided over $3 million dollars in financial support to over 190 minority college-bound students from Western PA.
 

The Scholarship Awards Are:

  • Two full-tuition room & board scholarships KSEF/PENN STATE to attend any Penn State University schools.

  • One (1) Full tuition scholarship (not including room and board) for a student attending any of the schools at Duquesne University.

  • Six (6) KSEF financial award scholarships: first place: (1) $3,500; second place: (1) $2,500; third place: (1) $2,000; and (3) fourth place: $1,000 each.

 

Application Submission

Applications for KSEF scholarships (Penn State, RMU, financial awards) are now open. The deadline to complete the applications is January 31, 2024. Make sure to visit each individual KSEF scholarship’s landing page for details.

A high school senior may apply for multiple scholarships. However, the student must complete the application for each scholarship. YOU MUST COMPLETE SEPARATE APPLICATIONS FOR EACH SCHOLARSHIP.

The focus of KSEF is identifying high-achieving underrepresented students for these awards. The categories listed on each scholarship application will be utilized for evaluating each candidate. Finalists must be present for a face-to-face interview with the selection committee and likewise winners must attend the annual scholarship luncheon.
